Since 1963, this unique structure has
towered over US 41/GA 3 (Cobb Parkway) and has provided everything
from mere amusement to landmarks for pilots.
In 1993, the Chicken
was damaged by a tornado and was almost torn down. Three years later,
thanks to popular demand and a significant donation from Pepsi, the
Chicken was renovated and the beak and eyes again became animated.
For
years, I would pass this venerable Georgia roadside legend, but it
was not until recently (April 14, 2007) that I stopped to pay homage
to it.
